OUR HISTORY

Valley Assembly of God (formally know as Williamsport A/G) has had a rich history extending back to 1930's. Services were conducted in an old nine-room farmhouse located in the center of 265 acres. The family of George W. Fowler, Sr. and Virgie E. Fowler occupied the farmhouse, which became know as "Fowler's Hotel."

In 1934, the services were moved from "Fowler's Hotel" to Dellinger's schoolhouse, a few miles away. Cyril S. Fowler was the pastor of this new work. In the early 1940's it was decided that the church would move to a new location on Falling Waters Road in Williamsport MD.

The property was purchased for $300.00 by Earl Malatt on behalf of the church. The new location was dedicated to the Lord on Sunday, April 4, 1943. Luther, "Roy" Bowers temporarily assumed the pastorate and faithfully served for over thirty-five years, until promoted to glory.

Valley Assembly of God Today

Under the leadership of Pastor Daniel Jordan, Williamsport A/G experienced significant growth and eventually outgrew its church facilities. God opened a door of opportunity for the congregation to relocate to a new building at 17544 York Road in Hagerstown, Maryland. At a business meeting held on July 6, 2003, the church overwhelmingly voted to move to the new location, thus now becoming Valley Assembly of God Christian Life Center.

In October 2005, Robert C. Jones took over the reigns of Valley and began to fine tune the overall ministry of the church. Shortly after, the church’s name would be changed to Valley Assembly of God.

For the past twenty years, Pastor Jones has faithfully and whole heartly served Valley. The church has seen much growth including a 1.2 million dollar addition, remodeling of the sanctuary and main restrooms. In April of 2025, the sanctuary received another major upgrade with new modern tech with the addition of a Cross, located above the baptism tank, and two large screen tv’s.

This church family, as it looks to God, is expecting and believing for great things in the days ahead. May God's blessing continue to rest on and provide a future for Valley Assembly of God.
